Today’s Stock Market 📉

Apologies, seems my outburst is having an effect on the NASDAQ composite.

@dk1 The theory would tell us that banks and insurers would rise. Many types of tech shares would drop. So there should be no surprise here that this is exactly what has happened.

Can someone help me understand how I’m supposed to work out when to buy in to a stock from yahoo vs freetrade when they both update at random times.

I had myself thinking that whatever yahoo said thats the price but free trade wouldn’t let me buy in at yahoo’s price instead it told me it backdated me almost 40 mins prior? Making it impossible to try buy in at correct prices :frowning:

I have read the document about why I buy in at different prices but Usally if it updates on yahoo and you buy rapid you get pretty much that price give or take.

I could see on yahoo 2x I bought in with the exact number of shares I bought as it seems no one else did but me yet when it dropped to 1.98 when I tried straight away I never got it yet 291k did.

Just very confusing when you have yahoo update 40 mins later then you buy in and it decides to update every 2 mins now that you have and FT says it will back date you back to a time and now allow you to buy in at that price mmm

@kiava from your perspective neither of the prices are guaranteed. What you will get is the best bid that your broker can get for you at the particular quantity you want to buy at the time of execution.

If you want to buy at a guaranteed price for your size then you have no choice but to use a limit buy.

Ahh so those 291k were most likely limit buys? I guess if I want to grab the lowest price I will need to wait for the stock to properly drop you no way under what it’s at then I can kind of guarantee a low price.

So OK now that’s out the way what about why freetrade said I have to buy in at the last known price on my app? It came up in yellow I haven’t seen this before?

If you pay for Plus you get Limit Orders.

If the stock price hasn’t updated in a while Freetrade will make you aware as if the stock is volatile it could be a lot higher/lower when it executes

Thanks I’ll need to look out next time I guess

Another question I have is on a said stock I have maybe 10 diff buy ins but only see 5 is there a way to view them all?

I must be going colour blind.

All I can see is red and no green, which proves I’m colour blind.

Right? :crossed_fingers:

My green is hanging in there. But not looking like it will much longer.

Whys everyone selling up you would think its almost Christmas or a corn in the con virus is kicking about

I’d suggest uncertainty around future COVID lockdowns. If people sell then I will buy
