Hi @Damon , does this mean that we should be unable to buy REITs in our SIPP’s currently?
It looks like the app will allow me to buy REITs in my SIPP today (i.e Segro SGRO), as the buy button is enabled, but I’ve not tried actually completing a purchase.
Finally! Thank you for hearing our request
Hi @TradeRunner,
That’s correct - you shouldn’t be able to buy a REIT in your SIPP. There is a fix going out that deals with some of the banners on that instrument screen, so please let me know if the front-end block isn’t reinstated shortly. Thanks!
Hi, yes its fixed now for the SIPP account - the banner message is back again and the buy button is disabled.
Just reading the ISA REIT update now and surely this is good news for those of us in this thread!!!
Freetrade will now be able to claim back UK withholding tax on investments held in the ISA.
Guys, does this also include US REITs held in the ISA?
Kudos on this one FT. Shame there’s no option to transfer from Gia to ISA as I’ve built up a few holdings, but I understand this is an HMRC issue rather than FT.
The question is are the any decent UK REITS…
British Land is your best bet. (Not investment advice)
You can sell in your GIA, transfer the cleared fund into your ISA, rebuy the same holdings and get support to change your buy price.
Another option is Land Securities another UK one goes ex divi on 25th august this year
thanks i’ll take a look…dividend record a bit spotty
and waiting 60 days for your withholding tax…what a buzz kill
Class it as nice little bonus scheme when you’ve over spent
So your saying you can sell and rebut and the money waiting on difference they will give you back? Takes 3-5 days to clear price could gone up certain % by then
Yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying, you’re correct. If you have an issue with this then I’d suggest you addressing the letter to 11 Downing Street, HMRC rules.
Not sure what it is has got to do with downing Street
It’s not a recommendation but if I was in the market for a Reit right now, I’d do some research on the UK logistics sector. Due to various headwinds, Reits like BBOX have swung from a 15% premium to net asset value to a 20% discount. If sentiment changes, that should narrow but it’s just my 2p worth.
