I’m a first-time, small investor. Is there a limit of how many different stocks I can hold? I can buy further stocks on existing companies but it doesn’t seem to let me buy new stocks.

There are no limits on how many stocks you can hold, at least nobody has broken it by buying too many yet.
Have you got. any queued orders for US stocks? These will wait until just after the market has opened to execute.
Additionally if you are trying to buy UK (or Finnish) stocks, those cannot (as of yet) be be bought fractionally, so if you are attempting to buy less than 1 stock, it won’t allow you to buy.
