I am looking for more ETF’s to invest in. There does seem to be a fair bit of overlap between this one and some of the other Vanguard ETF’s, what is main attraction to this one?

Each Vanguard ETF is usually different from each other. You can check prospectus, check which index it tracks, and then look up methodology explanation for it on like FTSE website.

Vanguard has VWRL etf that tracks all world / all cap equities as an index.

This ETF tracks Select version of that index, meaning it is all world / all cap equities, but screen to remove carbon / tabacco / alcohol / vices / gambling / gas / oil / guns / etc. Aka screened for ESG.

Different types of exclusions that are screened appeal to different people. For me this is the cheapest way to invest into a global tracker that excludes tabacco & oil.

I guess the main appeal of this is that it’s perhaps the simplest option for a portfolio, you could use this to create a one-fund equities portfolio and it would give you:

  • Global diversification
  • Diversification across large/medium/small market caps
  • A low(ish) cost of 0.24%
  • Reasonable ESG handling - it avoids some of areas of biggest concern (fossil fuels, tobacco, gambling, guns etc…)

VWRL doesn’t include small cap

How are people aware that this is going to be added? Also, will the accumulating version be added too? V3AB is the ticket - same fund but reinvests dividends.

I think people reading into the fact that this thread got moved from “Stock Requests” to “Stock Discussions”. But otherwise I don’t think anybody actually knows if this is getting added, when, and if both classes of the ETF will be available.

Yes it was moved yesterday at the same time as many other ETFs and lots of new ETF threads were created. Normally they update the forum a few days before adding to the app + posting the list thread. I think that coupled with the update below means it’s very likely we see them later today / next week.

@Charlotte are there any plans to add V3AB? For other similar ETFS you have both the accumulating and distributing versions (eg VWRL/VWRP) so I wondered if there were any plans for that too? Thank you :slight_smile:
