What are Freetrade working on just now

Hi Damon,

Can you tell us if UK fractional shares are being worked on? This has been requested for so long now and would really help with automated investments.

Not trying to be argumentative but Iā€™m intrigued as to why this is so important to you?

To do this yourself is a 2 second calculation per share / ETF you are buying?

For example, I want to buy 5% of UK company A. This 5% corresponds to 5.4 fractional shares. Would the app automatically trigger an order for 5 full shares? And the remaining 0.4 is deposited in cash?

Thatā€™s right, yes  Weā€™ll buy as many whole shares as we can with your allocated amount, which is not quite the same as the ā€˜closest integerā€™ you mention. e.g. If youā€™ve allocated enough cash for 5.8 shares, only 5 shares will be bought rather than 6.

No definitive dates I can share yet Iā€™m afraid but itā€™s a top priority for the team, and Iā€™m just as excited to get my hands on it as you are! Weā€™ll reach out with more info when we can

I must be the only person thatā€™s not actually bothered about UK fractional shares  I prefer my shares whole

Theyā€™re not being worked on at present, but have come up in conversations about recurring orders due to the convenience that you mention. They havenā€™t been forgotten about!

Iā€™ll answer this 1 post but donā€™t want to get into a who/why/when type thing. The reason is that for the last year or so every suggestion around pies etc got merged into one thread and I kept saying they are different. I knew this would happen like all the other functions and although good they are not fully loaded.

It doesnā€™t take 2 seconds to do what you said, not long granted, but I wanted the option of setting up my DIY ETF and not have to think other than add cash to it. If that is not what we are getting then we should never have merged all other peoples ideas etc.

Anyhow rather than going off on one to answer your question it is just the latest ā€œFree beer tomorrowā€ that I do not want to wait for anymore when I can go to the other pub and get my beer today. I will keep FT but not add any real money to it unless they get bought out and improve the functions.

Like I said FT is great for many but it is letting me down on the needs I want and the forum is a shell of the past greatness so I will no longer spend time on forum. I used to learn new things daily from many people but most have gone and now it is much less informative.

Anyhow good luck.

PS wish they had a deactivate button!!! Hate leaving profile on the net long term.

Whilst all acknowledge what a great job NeilB did, the forum is what you make of it.

I can guarantee that I will be on here a lot more often posting fun and happy stuff when the markets are up and my numbers are green.

Nowā€¦not so much!

And the reason why youā€™re not learning so much new stuff might be because you are more knowledgeable now?

Understand your reasons for leaving, if the service doesnā€™t do what you want it to do, thatā€™s what you have to do.

But for me, Freetrade does sooooo much more than what my other providers do, so pretty much everything they bring out feels like a bonus to me.
