I was expecting for the fractional ETF, which will be helpful in scheduling the weekly auto buying as per the allocation . All other platforms are offering this feature and it is much required? can we expect it anytime soon
I have asked about this at some point and I got the impression they had no immediate plans to do so. From the sounds of it, it would require some reworking on the backend to have this feature.
EDIT
Looks like it is being considered.
Welcome!
I’d like to be wrong about this but I’d suggest fractional ETFs are unlikely anytime soon. I think I’m right in saying an intermediary provides fractional US shares, so Freetrade would have to build something or find another third party.
This is a bit of a pain as one of the best S&P 500 ETFs has an £800-plus unit price.
We’re may be more likely to get index funds first. OEICs, which are fractional by default, were on FT’s to-do list but it’s gone quiet and we’ve had a change in management so it’s hard to say whether they’re still a priority.
Edit: I hadn’t noticed the above update which is encouraging, especially in light of the fractionals in Isas issue being resolved.
That is great , it will help me to automate most of the investments
I am beginning to wonder if this feature is ever going to be introduced.
Without it, it prohibits auto reinvest and you can be left with money you ideally want invested sitting idle whilst an investment you wanted to make goes up in price over time increasing the disparity between what you have and what it costs.
@acamp is there any update you can provide for this feature?
