Diversified Energy Company Plc - DEC - Share chat

On the other hand it might be better for them to remain this low for a while. To aid buy backs.
The less shares there are the more dividends for the remaining shares.
They are buying at what appears to be an extraordinary low price.

Traded between £15.13p and £12.04p today.
Limit order at £12.70p
Didn’t go through. Annoying to say the least.

Maybe opened on New York stock market?
Could explain the extreme volatility?

Can’t find an actual quote on NYSE

Hello all a nice rise in SP today which is very welcome.
Hopefully we can enjoy some stability from now on

Thats the OTC listing for DEC like the US equivalent to AIM.

DEC will be listed on the NYSE next week or in the new year.

Not been a good year for the share price but hopefully next year will be better as the companies hedges mean there will be profits to report and US investors hopefully help the recovery too.

OTC is not the US equivalent of AIM. It is unrelated.
There is an OTC market in the UK. Most of my purchases of listed small uk companies on 212 are bought on the OTC.
Basically there is no market maker, the trade is person to person.
There is 3 US OTC markets one of which you will find some of the large US companies on.
I can’t be bothered checking i think its referred to as the pink sheets?

Hopefully this prompts some positive momentum now it’s actually happening (today) :

Not showing anything significant rise yet.
We are in a short ish period where price in some cases have parted with reality… hopefully. Added a bit now around 2.2% of ISA.
20% dividend…the definition of a dividend trap?
Difficult to spot the problem?
I suspect the share price fall/dividend rise is scaring people off.

If I had bit more bottle I would be buying more.

Can we get the NYSE DEC listing on freetrade? Could then profit by buying DEC shares on LSE at a discount and immediately selling them on NYSE for 5% profit.

Ouch, Dec has by far been my biggest loser.

-17% today not looking good long term.

Very painful I only started buying the day before consolidation.
I suspect the majority on here are considerably worse off.
Still nothing around to say why?

Not sure, this stock has always been a rollercoaster taking bad new extremely bad and good news as if it never happened.

Am about 37% loses overall, I’ve been aggressively cost averaging so built quite a large position. Hopefully we see a kick up and I can reduce my position.

Just looked I am 13% down.
On the upside…the dividend!

House Democrats Launch Inquiry into Diversified Energy’s Risky Business Model

House Democrats have initiated an inquiry into Diversified Energy Co., the largest owner of US oil and gas wells, expressing concerns over the company’s unconventional business practices and their potential consequences on taxpayers and the environment. Led New Jersey Democrat Frank Pallone, the House Energy and Commerce Committee sent a nine-page letter to Diversified CEO Rusty Hutson Jr., requesting information on the company’s methane emissions and business strategies. Diversified specializes in purchasing old and underproductive wells, keeping them operational for extended periods, which poses the risk of leaving behind billions of dollars in cleanup costs for state governments. Additionally, these old wells are prone to methane leakage, a significant contributor to climate change. House Democrats argue that Diversified’s approach could undermine global efforts to combat climate change. Despite lacking the power to issue subpoenas due to Republicans holding the majority in the committee, Democrats are determined to hold Diversified accountable for its actions.

In their letter, the House Democrats highlighted a Bloomberg Green investigation conducted in 2021, as well as subsequent reports the Ohio River Valley Institute, which shed light on the environmental risks associated with Diversified’s business model. With approximately 65,000 wells spanning from Pennsylvania to Texas, Diversified owns more wells than any other company in the US. Despite being the 22nd-largest gas producer, the company ranked as the fourth-largest methane emitter among oil and gas producers in 2022, according to a report commissioned the Clean Air Task Force based on Environmental Protection Agency estimates. Diversified, headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, trades shares on both the London and New York stock exchanges.

House Democrats aim to address the potential long-term environmental and financial consequences of Diversified’s approach and ensure that the company takes responsibility for mitigating methane emissions and contributing to cleanup efforts. While awaiting a response from Diversified, Democrats continue to advocate for stricter regulations to hold oil and gas companies accountable for their environmental impact. As the battle against climate change intensifies, the inquiry into Diversified Energy Co. signals a growing commitment among lawmakers to scrutinize and challenge businesses with questionable sustainability practices in the oil and gas industry.

Despite saying that i was done buying, i did end up getting some more this morning. Just sounds like rhey are digging up Bloomberg gate again.

Could be that they are lying about the improvements they have made to detect methane leaks and it could be that the ESG awards they have received are bullshit awards.

Or it could be that this new investigation is a load of hokum.

I’m going with the latter. Interesting times and i’m sure there’s a lot of people looking at a nasty paper loss right now.

I wasn’t going to reinvest my dividends coming from Dec which are due next week (or there about if freetrade delay payment) but i am now considering it if we stay down here.
