[Feature Request 🔧] Annual Tax Certificate 💰

@acamp Thats fantastic news. Thank you for the swift response.

I have just asked for mine on chat in the app and was told November and to download a csv file and calculate myself! My accountant is already chasing me for this. I wouldn’t know where to start calculating this based on a csv file and I don’t expect my accountant to spend time on this either. This will be an extra incurred cost for me because freetrade are not providing this quite essential functionality.

The tax year finishes in April so why can’t we have this document in May. I complete my tax form way before October.

So the Government website says you need to have registered for self assessment by the 5th October. I didn’t do that as i was waiting for my tax certificate which turned up today!

Hi, baffled as to why this took so long.

Also, not sure why I have a dividend listed in this tax year on the cert which was paid on 3 Apr 23, which was the previous tax year? Have messaged in app but will probably not get a response for days.

I have the same issue with three payment listed before the start date of the financial year. But the top of the certificate states dividend income credited in the tax year. So i can only assume they were paid late and arrived on the 6th April.

On all my records the date is 3 Apr and therefore tax should have been paid in the 22/23 tax year. HMRC and my accountant aren’t going to accept assumptions as to when it was actually paid.

Can someone from Freetrade explain what is going on here as your late and shoddy reporting is now starting to mess with people’s tax returns.

Same date anomaly here, with a dividend dated 31/3/23.

I’ve messaged in the app and await an eventual reply. The support bot mentions a 5 working days delay with crediting dividends to the account (hence the credit falling under the 2023/24 year), but if that’s the reason for the date anomaly there’s nothing on the certificate itself to explain that.

Even if it was paid 5 days after 31/3 that’s still the previous tax year.

I had a response from customer service which was completely useless as they tried to explain that the UK tax year was 6 April to 5 April - which was obviously the reason I contacted them in the first place. It may have been a bot as it wasn’t making much sense and didn’t seem to understand my query.

I wish someone from Freetrade would come on here and explain what’s going on.

Anyone?

Is anyone from Freetrade going to acknowledge this issue or even get back to me in the app?

Morning @mmcgrath21 and others. Thanks for flagging this data issue with the CTCs.

The team has been looking into what’s happened here and they’re in the process of deploying a fix and will reissue tax certificates for impacted customers.

Basically there was an issue in assigning dividend income to the correct tax year when the pay date was around the end of the tax year.

We’re going to verify that the fix is accurate using a few of your tax certificates and customer service may be in touch when this is issued. If you think yours had an issue drop me a DM here and I’m happy to flag it up to the team to get it fixed ASAP.

Thanks
Alex
