Weāve built the fix for that now too, youāll see a random number soon
Hi all,
I had my access code a little while ago but went on holiday (making sure to take the ipad though ) but I did fund my account and make trades while away and made notes as I went so here goesā¦
Actually quick caveat that i know some of these may now have been resolved.
My own experience:
- Funding of the account at the time had an issue where i didnāt see that (on the ipad version) i needed to include the unique reference code so the funding had to be done manually. * Thanks alot to the team for resolving it. Very great to have a personal touch and quick response. *
- When i reviewed some shares in Discovery, the % change was showing as āTodayā even though i logged in half hour before the market was open so probably needs to either change or have an indicator how long ago the market closed or how long the market opens?
- Portfolio confused me a little lumping in cash into the amount too, i know i can see cash in the account tab but maybe if there was a smaller lighter text next to the large portfolio amount that said cash it would help my simple brain
- Took me a little while to find the live chat button. And could do with seeing an icon when logging in if thereās a new message iāve forgotten about after reading the email
- On the ipad, once confirming a queued order the ācancelā box is squashed at the bottom, extract below,
- Some share and bond names seem to get obscured by the logo, HY Corp Bond Hdg for instance gets hidden a little.
WISH LIST:
- Sorting of investments by daily increase, total increase, % and Ā£
- My +1 to needing a time frame added to the graph of āmaxā data for share history.
- Another +1 to maybe keeping things simple but linking to sites like morningstar with more in depth details of a share, dividend history is top on my own list. BId / Offer info too as a +1.
- Would like to see share details
- Discover, as the universe expands iād definitely benefit from a category filter. Ie UK shares, US shares, ETFās etc
- Ability to purchase a set amount of shares would be great for my OCD without having to work out the stamp duty and other fees first
- @Viktor another +1 to that merchandise store so i can buy more socks
This isnāt an exhaustive list because thereāve been some cracking suggestions elsewhere on the forum that donāt need repeating and iāve already added my votes to some.
OVERALL i am absolutely blown away at how the app runs. Iāve tried to click everything and look at most things, havenāt cancelled any queued orders yet or made any instant trades but nothing on the above list is major. And for only having staff test the app and some super early testers this is a very very smooth experience, and one that i hope has helped you refine your assumptions on revenue sources and expectations of profitability for our actions at this stage.
Very pleased to hear how youāve managed to start ramping up access too. Well done all at Freetrade All your hard working is paying off.
Hi guys,
I havent even funded my account as yet, so bear with me please on full feedback.
The user interface is extremely easy on the eye and simple so far to navigate. I have funded my account, funds just arent there as yet.
On the trading screen, initial observation, and something that is extremely important to me.
I think you need to show the bid and ask on all parts of the screen. There are easy ways to avoid confusion, such as the offer on the buy screen being boldarised and larger than the bid etc.
Also, you need to show the % round trip cost ie. the bid ask spread - this is especially important for supposedly highly liquid index replication in ETF space. My S&P ETF might be extremely liquid, but the sterling hedged offering might be less so, and other indices such as UK Corporate bonds will be significantly less liquid. Therefore please just show us what we are getting involved in. If I have made a mistake by buying it, what will it cost me to exit the position immediately ie the round trip cost.
Hope is helpful.
Cheers
Fish
Freetrader 140 reporting inā¦
So, I have not made a lot of investments yet mainly due to other things at the moment expect a few ETF shares. I have not had any problems with the app at the moment. The only thing that I have really had to question was the graphs but that has already been raised. Also, the time it takes for the money to arrive in your account but that has been raised.
@Chris put it perfectly in another topicā¦
Bugs will be fixed, new features will be added and all that will come with time. However, what the app will be able to achieve is magical. To people that are waiting, I know that it can be annoying but please stay strong. Your time will come!
I have said it before and will continue to say that as long as Freetrade remembers their mission and why, looks after itās employees who will look after the customers this community will go far. Things will change, mistakes will happen but Freetrade has the community that believes which gives it the power to achieve. :freetrade:
A post was split to a new topic: Pie chart in the portfolio tab
Good spot! Thatās a boo boo unless we can short (which given the companyās philosophy, is probably not something in the near term)
After some days use, a few additions to the app could be:
- Search in Activity and Investments since these line items will start stacking up in no time
- Cancel Cash Withdrawal request (even if this becomes a non sequitur if one invests that cash immediately). Perhaps i never would do this and only thought of this now because I wanted to test rigorously.
- Categories in Discover and Portfolio holdings - at the least should have asset classes
- Sometimes when re-entering the app after itās open it asks for the PIN instead of fingerprint
- Not a priority but certain force touch features would be cool at some point
- Bucket all Incomplete Orders into a single expandable line
- Perhaps remove the 7D stock view and replace with a 3yr or 5yr view. May be a good question to poll other FreeTraders. I personally donāt find 7D useful when i have 1M
Finally, thank you FreeTrade team for seeing the vision through up to this point - this is a genuine game-changer for me and certainly many others. Word of mouth alone should provide a healthy influx of traffic. Ease of use was the first test and was a resounding success, from depositing funds through to receiving fills for my trades.
Superb!

Donāt like the word ārejectedā, is that now āfailedā?
-
Can we Edit a queue order eg midday I decide to edit up or down the amount
-
Iām still out of town/timezone (irrelevant) but could there be an internal notification to say āCongrats! Your queued orders were actionedā at close. Even more useful when you open up multi-country trading
-
Could there be an optional streamlined view of list items without logos, as the portfolio/activity grows it will be important to easily scroll through for those that want it.
What do others think?
Rejected and failed are different I think. Iāve had both on the same day but not sure what the difference is. Probably the point at which it had a problem
Iād really like to know full details of why trades failed. Hoping these are just teething troubles because I canāt think of many reasons a customers failed order couldnāt just be retried in a liquid market, even if pricing varies slightly on a basic order, the customer wonāt mind.
I have just topped up my account now, does the top up mechanism work outside office hours or should I expect the money to show up at some point tomorrow?
Theyāre processed in batches during working hours, so itāll be done tomorrow morning
Is it 9am to 6pm or, as the link says, 7am to 4pm? If itās 4pm finish, this would explain why my transfer didnāt show in my account.
The linkās correct, weāve just updated that information.
Thanks Alex, Iāll bear this in mind when topping up in future.
I just got access as well, and I did some trades. User 171 here
I really liked the app, very easy to navigate, and you need just a few taps to get the job done.
Some thoughts that I have:
-
I donāt know if itās something in my settings but I didnāt get any notifications. For example, I would like to see some notifications when new money has arrived into my account or when the trade is done (or rejected) at 4pm.
-
Are there any plans to make the top up process faster? I didnāt like the fact that I had to wait about 2 hours for my money to arrive.
-
One of my transactions at 4pm had been rejected and I didnāt get any reason for that. I think there should be a clear reason there why the transaction has been rejected.
-
Also, when a transaction at 4pm is rejected is a bit frustrating because I should wait for the next day at 4pm if I want to buy the shares for free, or I have to pay the extra fee for the instant trade. Are you looking to reduce those ārejectionsā or insist more trials until the transaction succeeds?
I didnāt read all the thread, so sorry if some of my thoughts have been mentioned already

Account creation
- Creating an account was really easy.
- Asking for a preferred name during account creation could help with future correspondence.
- A āYou have no activity yetā message before youāve topped up would be useful - currently the tab is blank.
-
Iād definitely prefer an option to have no passcode/touch ID on app open and only ask for passcode/touch ID when submitting orders or changing details.
-
Removing the grey box outline around logos would look nicer, especially for
-
Profile tab - I found this difficult to find. It makes more sense to put all the info thatās in the āprofile sectionā on the Portfolio tab into the Account tab.
- Put the āHelp & supportā section at the bottom of the Account tab.
-
Reload the price of a stock when viewing it by dragging down to refresh the screen.
-
Pending trades should be at the top of the Activity tab instead of in Portfolio tab.
-
Multiple ādone buttonsā - Sometimes there is a āDoneā button on the top right of the screen as well as a bigger āDoneā button in the middle bottom (eg: contract note, bank details screen). The one in the top left should be removed imo.
-
Notifications for top ups, successful/failed trades.
-
Dates on the graphs for each stock - itās currently difficult to figure out where peaks and troughs happen, especially when on āMaxā setting.
