The app is very pretty and user friendly like I mentioned earlier- itās a breeze to use but several gestures could be added to make it more intuitive. Everything loads quickly while navigating, graphs spring up quickly while toggling which I really like. Love that descriptions are immediately viewable while browsing Discover so we know what the companies are without having to click on each one individually
Suggestions!
Would like to filter by category as well as alphabetical order
It seems odd to prioritise Ā£ amount field instead of choosing the number of shares you want to buy. Make both adjustable perhaps? I was doing the maths in my head which isnāt difficult for 2 or 3 shares but if someone were to buy 11 shares or something it would either be imprecise/ inefficient
You randomly get asked for Touch ID/ passcode when entering the app. Would prefer Touch ID always and only fallback to passcode if touch ID fails
While buying shares it timed out once and I assumed it didnāt go through, so I placed the order again. Realised I queued the same order twice only when I exited the page. Would be nice if there was a prompt along the lines of āoops! youāve already placed this orderā if someone tries to submit the exact order within 5s or something
A bunch of my orders failed for some reason yesterday despite having enough money in my balance. Itās getting looked at now since I might have done something wrong. Would it be possible for the reason for failure to be listed as well? Iām thinking along the lines of Monzoās feed notifications- ārejected as you did not have enough balance. Top up to retryā or something like that
If an order has failed, it would be nice to be able to retry it instantly or tapping on it should take you back to its page to adjust the value.
Not immediately noticeable where to find the live chat. I wouldnāt think to check profile in most apps, maybe a settings icon instead of profile icon could be used.
No notifications yet? I donāt think I would need notifications for each transaction but we should be notified when we get a reply in live chat. Also tapping anywhere in app seems to dismiss the pop-up if you get a response while browsing the app, so if you didnāt pay attention to your screen you might just miss it.
As the instant trade price is default you have to change that before you can type the amount or it will say zero shares. Having to change the 3rd box before you can add the number you want to the first box is counterintuitive. And you have to guess the stamp duty that needs adding
The other thing to remember is to include 0.5% Stamp Duty which threw me offā¦ shouldnāt have but it did. Steps to replicate enter the exact amount for 1 share and youāll see what I mean.
Today Iāve just gone with round numbers instead of trying to calculate it in my head Iād rather just set the number of shares since the price will change anyway for a basic trade!
How long is it normally supposed to take for a top up to show on the app? I topped up last night but yet to see it on the app. Will wait till the end of day as iām assuming itās not using faster payments service?
Hi - our deposit process only runs during working hours, so if you top up in the evening it should be in your account the following morning. If itās still not there please let us know.
Out of interest, why is that? Is there manual intervention your end, or are you relying on a legacy partner that only has the hamsters running during daylight hours?
This is not going to be popular, but Iām not 100% sold on the glib descriptors.
I donāt have a problem with them per se, but, being overly cautious by nature, wonder if there is there a point at which a description is close to the line between humour and defamation?
Ie If I were BT not sure Iād be happy about thousands (hopefully millions) of my target market, seeing the company being described by the phrase āslow internetā on an investment app (even though this is often accurate where I live!).
The other descriptions that I have seen are fine, but are quite limited in describing what the companies actually do - not sure they would necessarily make me want to investigate further if I had little knowledge of that company. Ie āUnilever - soapā is a bit flat (unforgivable omission of marmite as well!)
Just a few thoughts, apologies if they have been raised before, and also for appearing to be a killjoy!
The descriptions are limiting but I really wouldnāt want more. Gives me an idea about the sector they are in and then I can do further research into them. For example if Iām looking for a financial based company I know not to look at Unilever. And adding marmite to the description would totally put me off
Youāre probably right, Humorous is OK, but if itās derogatory it might cause problems down the line. I think they should be kept neutral or positive
Most of the companies in the search are quite well shortly described (mining/banking/utilities/insurance/drugs/etc.).
The only few exceptions with funny facts, as they have been featured here, are BT, Unilever and a couple of others.
Despite that, each one of them still has a more thorough āAboutā paragraph, which is only there to give some idea about what the core of their business is. For example, for BT it is the following:
