Hi @Emma84 welcome to the forum and FT. As soon as you deposit money into your account it ‘tracks’ you as a referred sign up and in a few days you’ll get a notification for your free share. If you want to share your link with friends and family you’ll be able to earn more shares.

Just wondering how you calculate 2,000?
Based on this last user number update:

That would be 2,500 hundred a day?!
Considering we were averaging 1,500 before the Colin Furze ads, Colin seems to be helping to add an extra 1,000 users a day over the last 8 to 10 days. 
Assuming a minimum of £3 per share per referral, that tunnel will be paid for in no time, if not already!

I am not fond of the way active users are accounted for. Which may result from a misunderstanding on my part.
As far as I am aware, placing an order during the period of one month makes someone an active user.
There are months when I place multiple orders, which makes me an active user.
There are months when I place no orders. Zero. Zilch. Nada. That makes me an inactive user. Yet I am active every day. I read every day. I check numbers every day.
I don’t know how to account for that. I believe I am not alone. I am sure there will be thousands more people being active in lifting rocks to try to find opportunities, but not placing orders in the app.
I ignore the exact criteria used by Freetrade to identify the number of active users. I think cases like mine ought to be considered active which would increase the numbers towards a figure closer to reality

I think to be an active user you just need to have checked the app over the last 30 days. Active “investor” refers to someone that has placed a trade over 30 days

Correct, that’s how it was defined in the Q2-20 round, I think it’s fair

That’s an interesting one. My assumption had been that if you have funds invested on the platform you are automatically active even if you only trade infrequently as your money is contributing to their assets under management total. The key thing I’m interested in is what proportion of users are now fully dormant accounts e.g. people who opened an account, tried it out briefly (maybe during the GME madness) but no longer have anything invested.

Or, more cynically, who funded their account, waited for the free share, and then cashed out again.
