So why can’t we get shares in freetrade :thinking:

Think you’ll find it actually won’t :+1:t2: unless it’s actually in freetrade shares like said about and I can’t see a Ā£freetrade ticker :crazy_face:

Investors might be given a chance to sell their investment prior to ipo like in March this year. Don’t always need a ticker

You might aswell have that in different language as that means nothing to me :+1:t2:

Let’s see how that goes when Freetrade share holders are selling our investments for x100’s returns.

Freetrade is a private company, not public. This was the last opportunity to own a piece of them.

We are waiting for them to raise again to see how much our share have grown

You can get shares in Freetrade in their crowdfunding rounds. There should be another one this year

Freetrade shares are not yet listed on a public exchange, but hopefully they will be within a couple of years and we’d have the option to sell

Personally I’ve owned shares in Freetrade since 2019 and believe that the more users that join up, the more successful Freetrade will become, ultimately increasing shareholder’s value

Obviously there are more factors, but user acquisition is one easy way to check Freetrade’s progress and growth

In a less cynical way, I like seeing user growth as it means more profits and hopefully features and market expansion.

Every user should want that even if they’re not a shareholder or use other brokers as well. And in a broader sense all this democratising investing stuff makes us look less like an odd group of degenerate gamblers, UK is waking up to investing.

That and the group is sort of an obsession for its own sake now I think.

I love this thread

I do like this thread a lot too and, as an investor, obviously see the impact Freetrade’s number of customers has on return. However as Freetrade does begin to achieve these higher numbers of customers and some sort of plateau or saturation level in the UK (not that I think we are there yet) features become fundamental for stickiness and increasing the AUM. Hargreaves Lansdown is high cost and not a great UI but they get the AUM and the customers because a person can have all their account types there and they can invest in pretty much all stock types. Therefore I think that features which customers have been asking for for a long time such as different account types (JISAs, LISAs), European stocks and auto invest really need to be prioritised now as customers (and existing customers) will not just open secondary accounts with Freetrade but move all their assets to them.

What do people mean by the ā€œauto investā€ feature ? Any example of a trading application that already does this ?

I guess it refers to rules set up so that, if you get dividends or transfer money in, it is automatically invested by proportion to that rule set. I.e. send £10 every week to Freetrade and invest it in Netflix.

I appreciate that 11k a day is large but if we manage to roll out to EU soon it will be massive for user figures, saw in Plums pitch deck that they were acquiring users at 6x the rate in EU over UK. If we see the same for FT it would be very nice!

That is for investment products(stocks), my understanding is they are offering their savings products over there already.
From their pitch:
available: UK, FR, SP, IR
coming soon: IT, PT, NE, BE, FIN

It’s basically on page 7 of their pitch deck, where they literally mention what I posted above.

Also, if you look at their page on crowdcube: Plum successfully raised £1,000,000 Oct 2021.

ā€œExpanded into 3 EU markets (France, Ireland and Spain) and targeting the rest of Europe by the end of 2022 – expanding our reach by 6xā€

I think it’s pretty clear that they have expanded to the 3 EU countries. There’s another page on their pitch where they showed that in H1 2021 they have expanded into the 3 countries. Then the plans for other countries for 2022, etc.

Besides, I don’t think CC would allow clear misrepresentation on the fund raising page itself, though CC doesn’t review the pitch deck.

We almost have the perfect storm here with UK new user sign ups seriously amped up driven by a multi pronged / channel marketing push that’s clearly working. Now would be the time to launch at least the UK crowdfunding round and simply tweak the advertising to also say ā€œoh yes, you can also get yourself a slice of the action via out latest crowdfundingā€. There will be MASSIVE demand from current users, new users, current investors and new investors. CrowdCube will get smashed :hammer:

Then immediately focussing on part two being go live (and ā€œlocalā€ crowdfunding if possible) in EU, AU, CAN, JAP.

Serious momentum here….
