1.7 billion have Facebook accounts and you expect a minimum of 1 billion people to have investment accounts in 3-5 years?!
You misread @MrChew. Based on the model*, factoring various sensitivities including but not limited to sign up of pets, on a forward looking basis we can reasonably expect 12bn users at YE25.
*model version 1.1.1 @DL1 to confirm whether this is with Covid-Wave2 in sensitivity.
Youāre confusing valuation with users.
My bad! Think itās because someone mentioned 12 billion users in the next 3 years
The uncommonly seen double-whoosh!!
Revolut are valued at $5 billion six years in, with a core product/service that appeals to a wider demographic than Freetrade. While I believe in Freetradeās future, I donāt think itās sensible to compare it to Revolut, Monzo or the like, unless they diversify their product offerings, and release more traditional financial products such as current accounts, forex etc. rather than just investment-related products.
Would be extremely happy for Freetrade to be a unicorn in five years.
As a very happy Monzo user and a very happy Freetrade user I often day dream about whether Monzo would ever buy Freetrade as a route to competing with Revolut on the combined banking/investing front aiming at Millennials and Gen Z.
Having said that, Iāve also got a Revolut account and honestly donāt see what all the fuss is about there. Perhaps itās a case of horses for courses but Iāve never understood the hype or valuation around Revolut and the current news coming out of there is pretty horrid.
I think Monzo are currently struggling to buy the morning coffee round, let alone buy Freetrade.
If youāre allowed and are happy to share, how many shares do you own? And how would we find out what theyāre currently worth?
I have 10090 shares. I got most of them in R2 when it was 15p
So at Stephens speculative Ā£245 per share Iād have Ā£2,472,050
However at the most recent and more realistic price of Ā£2.51 theyāre worth Ā£25,325 which is a massive increase in itself. Iām pretty happy with how itās going so far. At that price itās my best ever investment by a long way
I managed to buy 1047 shares in last Julyās crowdfund and 673 shares in this most recent one (so 1,720 in total). So going by Stephenās speculation Iād only get just over Ā£421k - would be definitely be nice but a far cry from your couple of mil
Well based on my incredibly accurate calculation earlier Freetrade should be growing at a rate of 8.4% per month, as it has already been a month since the last raise that puts the current share price at Ā£2.72.
Your 1,720 shares are now worth Ā£4,678!
Yes I would second the comments made by AJHY. Why? Well, for a start there will be great financial opportunities post Covid-19 in the financial services sector. Hence, Freetrade cannot stay still and must act swiftly!
Key question isā¦ whatās the exit strategy for Freetrade?
As a fellow investor, I hope they donāt have an exit strategy, and just continue to expand to fill the hole in the UK and EU market for retail investors who want a low-fee way to invest their money. Yes there are competitors, but the main competitor (HL) is still charging large amounts for each trade and encouraging investing in funds of dubious worth.
At some point if Freetrade do well enough they could IPO (maybe in 5-10 years).
Iām with Kenny. Focus on growth. Raise money grow more. Pile in employees, designers, talent, foreign language support. Dont waste millions of quid and thousands of hours listing. Letās be in every country in Europe and offer 10,000 shares and etfs as well as all the financial vehicles like SIPPS JISA etc. Then letās talk IPO!
Well said!
Hargreaves Lansdown has a share prive of Ā£16, market cap of over Ā£7.8 billion and has been trading for over 10 years. I donāt see FreeTradeās share price exceeding this 5 to ten years from nowā¦
Itās just too much to grow in 5 yearsā¦
But, i can really see FreeTrade coming in a huge second, making a massive dent in HL market share ā¦ I would definitely invest in FT at IPO.
Freetrade took VC cash so they have to have an exit strategy, otherwise the VCs wouldnāt have invested.
Typical cycle is 5-7 years so weāre still a way off that, but if all goes well for FT, expect to see them go public or get acquired sometime this decade.
