Hi i need some infomation on an ISA, i currently have a GIA with stocks on freetrade if i apply for an ISA can i transfer my stocks to the ISA without selling them first?
No you cant transfer, you have to sell and re-buy in ISA.
Don’t think share transfer is possible from GIA to ISA. Cash transfer is possible. Talk to the support.
Sell then ask FT too transfer money to ISA and buy again or send cash back to bank and buy again. If you have spare cash you could just buy now. Takes about 5 days and keep your fingers crossed none of your stocks go up too much. Remember you will likely lose some money through Tax and FX fees.
