Manual currency conversion from USD to GBP?

I am interested in buying US stocks. What happens when you sell US stocks? Is the money automatically converted from USD to GBP? Is there a way of keeping money in USD in between transactions without causing conversion after every sell?

I understand first time I buy US stocks, there will be conversion from GBP to USD.

Sadly, it is neither the case at the moment nor is on a roadmap yet.

However, this has been suggested and raised quite a bit of demand. I am, too, a big fan of storing other currencies to avoid FX charges in case of swing trading
