The question is could this new varient lead to a more prolonged bear market. Although no new cases have been identified in the UK I suspect its only a matter of time!
Feeling good that a few weeks ago I started to take a pretty conservative view of my portfolio. Still down on that point of course and expect a rough few weeks to come, but right now my instinct is to hold what I have because it’s relatively tame on the whole, a bit of mining and medium pharma being the main exceptions to that rule, both of which are holding up well. My green stocks are well down though, and I look forward to doubling down on those in the future.
Actually pets at home had a 10p plus day which was nice.
Depends whether it essentially resets us to square one or not I guess. There are reasons to think there could either be a sudden crash, or a shallower, prolonged bear market, or that the past and coming days could be relative bumps in the road (a clear contraction but much less than feared).
Yes @Michael2535 you are completely correct: the difference is stark. FTSE100 and FTSE All share as a whole haven’t done well over the past 5 years (early 2016) - although people might be sitting on gains on particular shares especially if bought at some key moments. It is also interesting to compare DAX and CAC over the same period - both outperforming FTSE by quite a margin (but of course underperforming the S&P500).
Another reminder to diversify.
Back down the rollercoaster we go
Worth pointing out this is not the most independent source.
So up and down today already
My favorite type of day! It’s stock sale day ladies and gents
Will be buying some bad boys today
I may buy a few more to grow holdings. Will see what prices things go too and if anything is tempting
Most of my Friday loses have recouped…again. this happened yesterday and then went downwards in the afternoon :-(. But still not selling or panicking…too much ha
Which dip am I buying today?
All the dips! Your portfolio should look like the inside door of your fridge.
So, who bought the dip?
My portfolio gained all recent losses today
I bought some more on a couple of my shares but just noticed one was sitting the same for days dammit I missed it.
And the dips separate the emotional investors from the emotionless, robotic, consistent (anything else?) investors… there’s only one winner in the long term
True that @MJRInvests got to leave the emotion out of it and enjoy the ride
I’m doing still a fraction down but doing better vs VWRL than I was before the dip. Can’t complain. Leaving emotion at the door and with no intention of making any radical moves, I do feel another dip is likely though.
