Well today my portfolio has hit £2k capital profit for the first time.

Not bad as I only started investing in Feb 23 and have been drip feeding spare cash since (modest amounts).

Plenty of mistakes made, but a lot has been learned from the nice people on here.

Cut loses early and let profits run is the biggest takeaway to date…though I think I read that somewhere else :rofl:

The supoort on here makes a difference though, thank you :slightly_smiling_face:

Congrats man, that’s way a head of me I get up to 500 profit then it drops the rises slowly back lol. Annoyingly I can’t put as much as I wanted in due to a holiday I need to go to that will be expensive and needs to be a month to make it worth while so that’s taking big chunks per month out for 2 years.

Keep it up you’re doing great :)))))))

Thanks @Kiava

I think for many of us, there will be lean times and good times, both in what we can contribute to our investments and also how well they do.

I haven’t deposited for a few months. Like you I have had other expenses and a holiday coming up. But I will be back investing more soon as I can…as will you.

You got to live for today, at least a little, before you worry about tomorrow.

Yes my portfolio has sat stagnant for a while as I juggle around stuff and I have been off work this week so don’t grt paid the first few days but that’s why we have rainy day funds.

I’m still honestly unsure how much I need for the holiday etc I still need a passport and all that plus a few other things to sort before I even try to travel and for my first ever abroad flight it’s a long one lol if I want it cheaper that is.

I’m New Zealand, where you heading?

New Zealand! You dont do things by half

Sounds awesome. Forget investing till the holiday is over…live for now for a little while, then come back to it when you have the funds.

Im going to Budapest, Hungary.

Tagging along with my son who has the travel bug just now.

You know it takes being wrong hundreds or thousands of times to begin understanding the times you could be right.

In terms of stocks & alternatives I’ve avoided Tesla, Bitcoin, Doge, Amc, Green energy anything and the only ones I’ve called out may not have all 5X’d but they are damn good picks. The wildcard still being OnOn as I have no idea at all on the future of the company but I am blown away by the product. Judging by the stock action I’m guessing I’m a narcissist for calling that one out before ever seeing a single person wearing their product?

BAE - 2020
BGEO - 2020
NVIDIA - 2022
IHG - 2022

My Wildcard
ONON - 2022

Lots of people also speak of ā€˜hindsight’ and I don’t believe in hindsight anything. So I’ll go again - the next growth area that most investors are going to pour into is Private Equity, happening right now and even larger inflows into 2025 and 2026. It’s where lots of the regular stock market gains are going to pour into after it’s gone into property. I’m saying right now this is happening. Not mainstream. Call me an idiot a year or two from now but by that time private equity will probably be pulling 11% - 14% yoy gains averaged. Currently it’s 9%.

Sound ace man hope you have a good one. That feed Phill show on Netflix is giving me the I want to travel to these places bug as all the street food looks amazing and the people look fun as well as the areas look so chill.

(Is it funny that while I watch him go to these places I also have my investing brain working as I see what these diff countries have to offer and actully how advanced they’re while being so cheap as well.)

NZ is so expensive I plan to go for a month see my sister nephew and neice. Then travel to the south islands etc on motorbike and do some white water rafting. It will be a 2 year save though as I expect to have to pay lots for stuff.

I enjoy investing to but at least I know it’s more of a side job which can be exempt now and again, ofc doing this hurts you in the long term gains but as you said you need to balence doing stuff just now and later in life.

No point having tons of cash later when you’re to old to do the activitys you wanted to do when you’re younger

Lots of talk on small caps as well

Exactly mate. The future is important, but not guaranteed. Important to live for now too.

NZ sounds like an awesome trip. Im sure it will be well worth it.

Anyone got dodgy updates like rolls Royce still hadn’t updated today on freetrade and the insights show me like months a head of the all world.

I have the new update for FT, and also have put money in and bought today just wondering if anyone else has any ui issues. Thanks

Guess I’m the odd ball am I?

Yes, the insights is bugged, it’s mentioned on another thread, free trade has acknowledged, not sure why it’s taking weeks to fix.

Rolls Royce looks odd too, the graph for today is completely different to Google and yahoo finance.

Already read that money is going into private equity, so if I’ve seen it, it’s mainstream
