Yeah please donāt drop this - think this is a very key strategic offering that will separate FT from its competitors.
When will we be getting these monthly newsletters? I invested in R4 in June and havenāt come across 1 yet.
I havenāt either
I keep coming back here to see if fractional shares has moved anywhere and get disappointed when it hasnāt. This has to be a key feature, and if others get in with it before Freetrade Iād be concerned about users leaving, because Iād certainly be considering it.
Thereāre 50 people at :freetrade:, mostly coders and being able to offer fractional shares seamlessly may be a function of FCA approval, engineering and testing. 3-6 months of waiting is fine, there are so many stocks to research and choose from. For example, I got Berkshire Hathaway Class B as it was a fraction of the ābig oneā after going through their annual reports and trying to understand their mission better. Itās never been easier to invest in 2019 and if you canāt get Alphabet or Amazon trading over $1k per share, there are plenty of juicy stocks as alternatives.
Yeah, throwing more people at a project often doesnāt make it faster, and can make it slower
edit: I meant to post this in the revolut thread where people were complaining about unfilled vacancies, but itās kind of relevant here as well
In my humble opinion expanding Freetrade to more countries sooner would be great move.
Revolut had 20 000 customers in June in Croatia, now it has around 50 000, and a lot of people will start using itās trading system because, there isnāt much choice or it is extremly expensive to trade in foreign markets here.
So if Freetrade comes in this market in 1 or 2 years it will be very hard to get customers even if itās product is much more better.
The market pie is a lot bigger than we expect:
I agree, interest would be a plus and even a fix savings account.
Thereās about a billion fixed rate savers out there, and about another billion interest-bearing easy access accounts. If you think Freetrade, a small tech company developing one of the first free-trading investment app for mobiles in the UK/EU, should become something itās not and jump into an already over-saturated and highly competitive market to deliver a product the same as everyone else hasā¦
Focus on what can differentiate them and stand out, and right now fractional shares is a huge one. Amazon is too expensive for a hell of a lot of people to buy, but they want to buy Amazon.
Rick Flair DRIP go woo on a ****!
Would like to see DRIP
Well I get your point was just an idea to help generate income for freetrade since every one loves basic free trades, interest for cash sitting my account would be great as I have a few there waiting for the right moment, fractional shares is great I can see that going well with new investors I already have a few amazon shares, Iām mostly looking out for interest on cash in my account not looking for much but Iām sure this might be way in the future, and Iām waiting on sipps and lifetime isa would be happy with extra 25%
Revolut Trading offers fractional.
So does Halifax, but thatās another story.
UK stocks / ETFs only.
How confident are you about delivering the 3-6 month bucket which is so ambitious and promising:
- referrals 2.0
- European shares (I guess the ones related to your international launches)
- international launches (Ireland, Netherland, Germany, France)
- Limit orders
- SIPPs
- fractionals expansion
- API
Hi Alban Actually, those shares are not related to the international launches, and will come sooner than the expansion.
Regarding confidence, the Platform migration has started, so while these are very aggressive timelines, we are confident.
Revolut are amazing at users acquisition for a reason as they understand first mover advantage and the simultaneous multi-market approach. Indeed, there is no point in creating an amazing product offering in a small market if your ambitions are international because by the time your product is great, all your target international customers will have been acquired by your competitors. User stickiness means your competitor then has time to develop and deploy the bells and wistles later. Then, good luck to you to make them move to youā¦
Hi Viktor - many thanks to the whole team for a fantastic attitude and communication. The app is gradually getting better, itās really getting top-tier in my view.
I had this question many times with no response - why not launch US shares all at once, why only 10x more? Many thanks.
Im waiting on fractional shares patiently.
