I challenged Crowdcube about paying interest and was told that as per clause 9.13 of their Ts & Cs:
āany interest accrued during this short period is not distributed to investors, as the cost of calculating and distributing these small amounts on an individual basis would be disproportionateā.
The actual wording of 9.13 is āCrowdcube may place client money in an interest bearing account and will retain interest unless it determines that the cost to Crowdcube of accounting to a client on behalf of whom it is holding money is not disproportionate to the benefit to the client.ā
This is useful in that (i) they refer to investors as clients, which confirms this is a business transaction, and (ii) they confirm they could distribute it if itās deemed proportionate. Hence, the response to you is both in conflict with their own terms, and a lie. All good in making a case regarding their unreasonable treatment.
I think you have hit the nail on the head. Makes perfect sense
The longer they withhold the payments, the more interest they accrue. It wouldnāt surprise me if we donāt get paid till after Easter, remember we are talking about CC & or Freetrade making tens of thousands extra in interest payments
It doesnāt though because many small time investors havenāt been paid like me a d all my bank details and everything is updated on the day they sent me the letters.
So far CC will have earnt about Ā£20 in interest on my payout, and theyāve cost me Ā£4,000 in lost capital gains, since I wasnāt able to invest the money as planned this week.
Itās a shame as it would have gone a long way to making up for FTs dismal returns. Absolutely disgusting company, Iāll never deal with them again.
Yeah - thatās the problem - it seems another person with my same name owns a larger number of shares and they have been assigned to their ownershipā¦.
I wish! I have those 524 from the later round - and 960 from the earlier round - and it seems those 960 have been attributed to my namesakes account who owns a lot more than me!
