Does anyone know of a site that provides that data as per the title? I’ve been using a free ADVFN account for years, but they’ve switched to the 15 minute delay that most sites have, like Freetrade and LSE.
I don’t trade, but I like to know what the bid/ask is for some of the wider spread stocks before buying, and although Google display the realtime price, no info on bid/ask.
Cheers
Hi Richard.
I know how essential knowing the spread is. Makes all the difference!
For US stocks I use TradingView. I think the spread is realtime even with a free account. Bid and ask are the top left of the chart. US prices are live, but UK prices are delayed 15 mins unless you pay for the data - which is only a few quid a month.
I also pay for the NYSE data feed on TradingView so I can see accurate US futures prices, which are otherwise delayed by 15 mins until market open, then the QQQ / SPY etc are live prices.
BUT… For UK stocks / ETFs - I use https://www.lse.co.uk - You do have to pay to get the live spread, but it’s not much a month. I have found it ESSENTIAL, especially with ETFs that are illiquid like the 3x Nasdaq, or 3x Silver / Gold etc… Even though there are no trades being executed that minute (or for half an hour sometimes), you can see the spread updating second by second - and it differs wildly from the price shown on the Freetrade chart, which can often lag the price shown on the market by a good 5-10 minutes - which leads to costly or badly timed entries. I’ve gained many many mannnny extra % by watching the bid on this site when I’m ready to sell.
Hope this helps!
