Iāve been with Freetrade since Nov 2021 and, despite coming in just as the bull was morphing into a bear, I remain constantly comfortably ahead of the VWRL benchmark with my little portfolio -Freetrade has given me enough tools to do that, combined with publicly available company data. The improvements since 2021 are good - much better analysis data- and more choice of stocks & ETFs. Fees are very good value IMHO. I have a tiny vested interest - hundreds invested in Freetradeās last two funding rounds -but not enough to give me rose-tinted spectacles. I only wish Freetrade had started years before it did. May it live long and prosper.
Iāve been on Freetrade since the day it launched and am staying, happily.
Iāve used several other brokers over the years, all have strengths and weaknesses. Currently have accounts with IWeb, Interactive Investor and Vanguard in addition to Freetrade.
Iām also staying put. Iāve been with FT since day one more or less. Itās good value for my use case, with the Ā£120 working out cheaper than Vanguardās 0.15%.
My sister says sheās staying with Freetrade (sheās not on the forum ). She also has an account with HL.
Tell your sister we said hi
Iām staying with Ft
I am very happy with the app and service. I am looking forward to trying out the robo investment service when it launches.
I now have all of my investments with Ft including full ISA and SIPP transferred from my previous providers. About Ā£500k in total!
Nice job @Freetrade_Team
I joined FT in September last year and started with a GIA before upgrading to the ISA a month later. So far I have really found the app intuitive to use and with the recent transparency about the plans FT have for the future I feel reassured to stay for this financial year and hopefully beyond.
Nice thread @Bob1!
Iāve been using FreeTrade since November 2021. I opened several accounts including DeGiro and Etoro but T212 was closed to new members at that time. I am very glad it was as FT has been absolutely ideal for a new user with zero investing knowledge.
The simplicity of the platform allowed me to focus on what stocks to buy and learn from the community. Less than 2 years in and Iām in the green with both my ISA and SIPP despite the poor market conditions.
I am trying the T212 ISA this year just for the experience (plus the free share and 1% cash-back) but I already know that I will most likely contribute next yearās ISA to FreeTrade. It is nicer to use all around.
Iām quite happy to pay my fees annually to save some cash and to help FT remain liquid.
Iāve always had fast and efficient responses from the @Freetrade_Team (thank you!) and Iām looking forward to seeing future developments as they emerge.
Thanks for sharing @Orbitalinvestor
Im only a couple of months in to both investing and FT , so its good to hear how people are getting on further down the line
Thanks @Bob1
I think being able to make plenty of low cost mistakes early on enabled a fast learning curve and I still spend a lot of time reading both here and elsewhere on the web. This community has been a wealth of information as well as pointing out other resources.
Good luck and happy investing!
Yes this a good place to learn the ropes.
Like you I spend a lot of time reading and learning. Has to pay off some time
Wish you every success in your investments too
Yes, thatās for sure. Iāve taken a fair bit of advice in safe and calculated investing but Iām in the green thanks in some part to some high risk investments that have paid off. My other investments will fluctuate less but are more likely to pay off in the longer term.
Getting a balance is important, particularly not risking money you canāt afford to lose.
Itās paying off for me at the moment thanks to what Iāve learnt (and what Iāve ignored) but who knows how itāll all pan out? At least I get 20% on the SIPP contributions from HMRC!
Sounds like a solid start.
Im in my 40s, no savings or investments (previously 50k in debt) but starting fresh on here.
Putting in about 10% a month from my modest private sector job, to give me a boost for retirement.
So far I have overtraded, learned from it, and now sit with 4 NASDAQ long holds while I learn research and start targeting a few FTSE 250 growth stocks over the coming months.
Still on chapter 1 of my Journey, but enjoying the learning
Thanks for sharing your journey, Bob. Posts like this are why the Freetrade team get out of bed in the morning and work hard.
I joined FT about two years ago and have been really impressed throughout, started just with a GIA and am now in the process of transferring in my ISA from another provider.
Iāve seen plenty of great developments so far and an ever increasing catalogue of stocks and ETFs.
Long may it continue!
Thanks for posting @JEnglish
Good to hear from you
Iāve been with FT since the beginning (almost!), joined October 2018 and my user no. is in the low 3-digits. Started with a GIA, moved into holding an ISA a couple of years ago, and may even consider a SIPP in the future, which is amazing considering just how little āspareā money Iāve had to invest. Itās been a slog, but FT has made it possible.
I had been stung badly by fees previously (Iām looking at you, Halifax Share Dealing!) and had essentially given up on the idea of any kind of investment because of that, but Iām glad to say FT made me interested again.
Iāve tried T212 for the pies feature alone, but had to give up in the end, the app was just too busy for me, and constantly having to re-login with a password (which I could never remember) was painful.
Iām not massively bothered by the new fee structure, although I have switched to annual billing just for ease of management.
Iām sticking with FT.
The forum needed to hear these stories.
Desenting voices are often the loudest, so its important for positivity to have its place too.
Thanks for sharing
Been using the app for slightly over 12 months. Last time I traded was mid noughties with Halifax @ Ā£12 a trade, I like FTās model, the 2 price increases not so much.
App isnāt perfect but can do what I need it to do 99% of the time. Would prefer a fully functional web UI as I find phones fiddly, but it is a prevailing trend for services to put mobile first.
Sure there could be a few improvements in the UI but nothing game changing, for me. If anything, the thing Iāve found a bit disagreeable is FT using emojis in their comms, maybe thatās just me being an old git.
Hilarious, you old git! I also am unable to communicate in emoticons and am staying at FT. As a beginner I needed a platform that are not pushy and have pink as their primary brand colour.
