I listened to a great podcast yesterday “Apple’s China Problem” that goes in depth on the issue - it’s episode 4 of Season 5 of Land Of The Giants and this season is all about Apple.
It talks about how Apple’s China problem is also China’s Apple problem. The products are too popular there and too many people are employed in China building them for the Chinese government to simple ban Apple or kick them out. Apple and the Chinese gov both seem to be hostages in this weird situation.
Well worth a listen

My M1 Max MacBook Pro arrives next week - I’ve been waiting to upgrade my Mac laptop since 2016 - this one looks like an absolute beast. Apple Silicon chips may be one of the reasons to hold or invest. They’re simply back to their best after a few years of muddled design/performance.

Echoed in so many reviews I’ve seen. They finally brought back the ports people wanted, dumped the touch bar no one wanted, brought back Magsafe charging and a while ago disposed of that keyboard that everyone hated.
It’s been a lot of rolling back things that people hated and reintroducing things people loved. I doubt it’s because Apple listened to their users so I can only assume that sales were suffering to a level that made someone sit up and notice.

I’ve seen a lot of ‘insiders’ who have pointed Johnny Ive leaving apple - he’s was at his best when we was reigned in by Steve Jobs.

Jealous I am - I nearly bought M1 Max but it was mid-December delivery which put me off… enjoy the new toy of the year!
I came back just to post this article for you about how Apple is now a silicon/performance led company and not a design led company…
The effort has been so well executed that I believe Srouji is secretly succeeding Jony Ive as the pivotal creative wizard whipping up the secret sauce in Apple’s offerings.
With this and also Tesla’s custom chip/system for their autopilot dojo training system, it makes you realise just how far behind Intel (and others) have fallen behind if other tech companies have had to dig in and get their hands dirty making their own chips instead of relying on ready made ones.

Fantastic read, thanks @CashCow. Design was always important but they last generation of MacBooks proved they tipped over from function to form. I’m in the market in about 18months so very excited to see this new generation in the wild.

It’s an over reaction, they beat earning in every category that wasn’t affected the chip shortage - if investors hadn’t factored this is that’s one them.

Dividend payments can take a couple of days to be sent to :freetrade: and then processed. It’s something that the team have on the radar to speed up.
