Received the email saying I’m invited about an hour ago - identity verification failed though! Awaiting an email reply now

SaltEdge have a API for Payment Initiation, and I think TrueLayer are looking into this. But these will have a extra costs compared to using the Bank’s Open Bank API’s directly.

Overall I don’t think the current payment flow is a massive headache, but it would be a lot better to do this without leaving the Freetrade app.

I’m in. On the registration you need a way to copy the various fields as it is a pain to flip between apps. Other than that it was smooth. Fast app. Simple UI. Like it. Moved money in. I will let you know tomorrow how the investment experience is.

Payment initiation endpoints are already available as part of the open banking api which all CMA9 needs to provide. Integration would require Freetrade to register as PISP TPP and development. Considering the effort I understand why this is less of a priority since the bank transfer is not too painful once has been set up.

Well got my two emails today. Set up the account and lo and behold I got a “we need to verify your account” so back to twiddling my thumbs then. Looking forward to it now!

Thanks for letting me in today - didn’t expect that!

I only got the “later today” email, but no second email, no push notification, and was surprised I didn’t need to go through Testflight as indicated in the Google Doc. These notification emails might need an update.

Onboarding was straightforward, app switching retained entries (on newest version), all pretty slick except for a minor UI bug on the bank account screen, when a confirmation button was pushed up by the keyboard and got in the way of other text - sorry, forgot to take a screenshot (iPhone SE). Now awaiting top-up clearance.

Shame I missed out on a 3-digit user number

User #916 checking in!

I found the on-boarding experience quick and easy and the app UI feels very smooth. Great job so far!:grinning: Transferred some money tonight so will provide trading feedback tomorrow.

Otherwise, just playing around on the app I think I will only repeat some of the points made by early testers before me.

  • Would be cool to have a ‘known name’ on the profile page.
  • Not that I need to but how would I change bank accounts?
  • Discover stocks to be categorised.
  • In the first review screen, I think it would be useful to see the fees so that I can see the breakdown of the cash before I go into the review order screen.

Maybe you can have an option in settings to swap between detailed and simple info for the different tabs on the app? (Similar to how Vanguard has on their website).
Anyway just some thoughts.

Looking forward to trading tomorrow and also investing in R4!

User #550 (delayed) check in.

Just a test trade on MSCI Index, went smoothly:

The good

  • Simple UI, great that you’re starting this way and building deliberatly
  • Easier to use than AJ Bell youinvest
  • Live chat was quick and effective with the 1 issue I had, resolved within minutes
  • Search feature works well

The less good

  • Portfolio view is basic, no timeline or % rise (only been a day though)
  • No categorisation of shares/bonds/ETFs
  • No timeline on Max historical view
  • No in app or easy link to community (running web and mob is cumbersome)

All the above seem like they’ll come about in the build anyway so not fussed, timelines on historical view is frustrating though.

Look forward to seeing the ISA, and hopefully addition of Fundsmith T Acc to funds.

Hi, this might have been mentioned before but it was something that would help keep transparency with users:

I had a trade that was rejected. It would be great to know why it was rejected eg.

  • Price movement
  • Not enough volume
  • etc.

Just a thought

Hello all,

For “Referrers and R3 investors who earned a queue jump” - When we can expect to receive access to the app? I’m #1 in the queue since 2 days or so and I can’t wait to try the app.

Thanks,

Hey!

If you’re number one in the app now then you’ll be given access next week, when we send out the next batch of invites on Tuesday :tada:

#916 checking back in with some trading feedback.

Overall was it smooth and easy to execute trades. UI is clean which I like a lot! :sunglasses: Bought some RDSB, GSK and S&P500 ETF.

Like to see the search function improved. For example I typed in ‘Royal Dutch Shell’ looking for RDSB shares but nothing came up. Had to type out ‘Shell’ or ‘RDSB’ to actually get it. I think its the same with others that when you use the proper name, you can’t find it. I don’t mind the name being shortened for display purposes but the full name should be searchable.

Will provide more feedback as I continue to use it but loving it so far. :ok_hand:

Hello everyone. I’m #61483 and I just saw that people on the first 1000’s got invited. Any idea how long will it take to invite the rest 50-60k of users (I guess 3-4 months). Lovely forum and a lot to be learnt as I’m just a begginer in investing. Many thanks.

Welcome to the community

Yes it should be early next year, if you’re on the waiting list now. Much sooner if you refer others to Freetrade though :raised_hands:

Hi all,

User #1111 here. I only had the chance to use the app for 1 day but here’s my feedback.

Registration: Very easy registration process, it was done under 5 minutes

Funds: Easy enough to transfer funds even if the reference number is not that easy to remember. I had my iPad with me during registration so I took a picture of the Freetrade account details and my personal reference number. Not sure if it can be improved with the regulations you’re facing.

Trading: Very easy. 1 trade was rejected which came as a surprise but everything else worked. One thing I had forgotten is the Stamp Duty
While it’s clearly mentioned when buying some stocks, I forgot about it when I went back to the app few hours later and couldn’t understand why my portfolio was “smaller” than expected: all my investments had gone up but the portfolio value was below my initial fund transfer.

Stocks: impressive list for the start and looking forward having more US stocks. The ones I’m looking for are already on the roadmap (Visa, Mastercard), so it’s only a question of time I guess.

UI: pretty slick and easy to understand. The portfolio graph doesn’t seem to move realtime though. My portfolio has gone up since yesterday (by around £1) but I sill have a flat line. Is this expected?

Cheers.

Thanks for your feedback!

Yes it’s updated daily at the moment, each morning, to reflect the previous day’s total portfolio value. It’ll update hourly soon though..

I’ve been in the app for a couple of days now and just have one query about purchasing.

If I place a buy order at, say ÂŁ10/share for 3 shares and a total of ÂŁ30, but the price then drops to ÂŁ9/share before 16:00, are the shares purchased for ÂŁ27 with ÂŁ3 returned to my account?
