MEGATHREAD: Bugs & Glitches

Yeah, all ETFs and trusts should come under that one category really.

Another minor thing that doesnā€™t really matter in the grand scheme: can we get some consistency on logos? Thereā€™s about four different ones for Invesco ETFs, for example.

Am I imagining things of has the ability to add things to the watchlist disappeared on iOS ?

I see what theyā€™ve done. Itā€™s moved along with a new share button

Has the Ā£2 buy limit been removed? I made a buy order of Ā£0.98p by mistake and it went through (US stock)

Has anyone had trouble accessing the app since the update on 17th April? Mine crashes on startup and I random get a ā€œFreetrade keeps stoppingā€ message randomly even when not using it. I contacted support who say itā€™s because Iā€™m using the app outside of the UK, but I spent about six months outside the UK last year and never had this problem.

OS - Android 13
Version - 1.0.34777
Device - Sony Xperia 10 IV
Length of time affected - since the most recent update

It seems like itā€™s not really an issue using it outside of the UK, others have reported that they do so with no problems here Using freetrade in the US - #3 by heytokyo

Also a similar issue has previously occurred on Sony Xperia Android app crashing after recent update

Iā€™m rich! Rich, I tells ya!

Oh no, that UI bug strikes again

Activity filtering has stopped working after the last update. Android 1.0.36686.
Anyone else see the same?

Yes good spot. Same here.

@acamp can you let someone know please?

As per last post, Activity filter on Investment App (Android) has stopped working, possibly since last update.

Thank you .

Hello, this is Berat and Iā€™m a mobile engineer at Freetrade.

Thank you for reporting this issue. Just wanted to let you know that the fix for this will be released next week, in the meantime, if you tap anywhere on the row outside the checkbox to select/unselect filters on the filter screen it should work as normal. Feel free to let me know on this thread if you have any issues with this workaround.

Thank you

Good work Berat.

Thank you

Hi all

Iā€™m not entirely sure if this is a glitch or Iā€™m not understanding investing

I have holding in THG and thankfully up 12%. I initially bought at Ā£1.83p. My average as of yesterday was 76p and I have been buying the many dips for well over a year now. I sold 10% of my holding yesterday at 85p, and Freetrade app now shows my average to be 67p. Is this a glitch or am I not understanding something? Why is my average going down?

Hello @Redstar,

This is likely linked to the fact that Freetrade performs a FIFO (first in, first out) sell of your shares. So if you bought your shares at a higher price/valuation than the current one, this would make your average look better, because your average is no longer considering the initial price, which was higher.

The other way, if you would have bought at cheeper prices in the beginning, it would increase your average.

I hope this makes sense, if not, please let us know.

Thank you for explaining, though it is slightly odd :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
I will go with the assumption that my average is still 76p however.

I understand the explanation but also find this strange.

Could FT not show your average price irrespective of sales?

Or if that doesnt make sense, allow you to sell specific positions within a stock.

I appreciate the end result is the same but you can then see a truer picture of your investment progress surely?

this wouldnā€™t make sense in the UK since linking value to individual transactions basically hasnā€™t exited for decades with the exception of GIA trades in the same day or 30 days.

Donā€™t know why Freetrade calculates things the way they do

Ah ok, seems like there is a better way somewhere

Also having trouble filtering by type in the activity section of the app. Iā€™m on Android. App version 1.0.36777

In the meantime, the workaround below can be used.

(I do find this easier to honest than selecting the tick box  )

I raised this about 10 days ago and was given an explanation, but Iā€™m finding this FIFO (first in, first out) system when selling a portion of your shares really annoying when calculating averages. I have to use another app to upload all my trades to get accurate data.

Can I have an explanation, a logical one, on why this is being used in Freetrade?
