Why is FIFO used? I can’t think of any reason other than ‘it just is’

FIFO is just how it’s presented it has zero relevance on the sale and buys of your actual stock. Theyre treated on the average

If you want to know the specifics on your money it’s all in your exported activity feed

I had something similar. Bought fulcrum utility for £39.99 then sold some to get my investment back at £43.71

Was left with 539 shares at a current value of £5.12 but am apparently 13.55% down on these shares which have not cost me anything. I was never the best at mathematics but can see this isn’t quite right!

I’ll be keeping an eye on this thread as I’d like to know what’s what.

Do you have short term memory loss you seem to be repeating your self on different threads ?

Unfortunately as Eden says how it is displayed has zero relevance to your investment. Whether you used FIFO or a Section 104 holding once you add your unrealised and realised gains/losses together your investment return would be exactly the same.
