I assume it wonāt be extended to previous referralsā¦ I think I already got all the friends I could convince to sign up, it is sad but as long as this company continues growingā¦ itās worth the loss (maybe)
You guessed right -
If we post a referral pass to social media can it be redeemed by multiple users or is it first come first served?
First come, first served!
When your referred friend signs up and tops up their account, you will be eligible to receive a new invite to give out.
Iām Android but the friend I would refer is iOS, am I out of luck?
Having started to wind up a few of my mates about Freetrade whilst we were in the pub last night as well as telling them that Iāll be able to send them a referral link sometime soon. Is there any further news regarding when this is going to be launched and thus when Iāll be able to start sending referral links out to people?
Btw, Iām an IOS app user.
Cheers
Matt
Nice!
We are planning to test it with a handful of external people within days.
If all goes to plan , free stock referrals will start to roll out to all crowdfunding investors in the next few weeks - including investors in the upcoming Round 5 launching on the 25th June.
Will this eventually filter out to all Freetrade users ?
Any planned ETA for non-investors using Android?
Will you be able to post date the referrals? I have recommended about 3-4 friends and probably wonāt have any more to recommend of they have signed up.
Thatās great! Weāre not planning to back date this though -
Yep, our Android using crowdfunding friends should start getting free share invites they can send out in the next two weeks.
When weāve tested it thoroughly, yes it will!
@Viktor will incentivised referrals be available across boarders? So if (when) you launch in the Netherlands, is it possible for a uk user to refer a Dutch one? Or an Irish one?
For now, it will be UK only.
So you only get 1 referral pass at a time? How did the external test go?
It might not affect many people but have you considered the CGT implications of the scheme?
Itās great to see you launching a referral scheme, but on the surface the execution doesnāt make a huge amount of sense to me.
A random stock just doesnāt appeal much to me, personally speaking - given (like most here, I guess) I have an investment strategy and a curated portfolio. I would rather you simply picked a set amount of credit to add to both accounts.
So I donāt think random share allocation is the way forward, but Iām not sure credit is either.
Iām not sure Freetrade users are the kind of people looking to score an extra ~Ā£30-80 by convincing friends and family to sign up. To me, a more effective referral scheme would be a well designed gifting mechanism.
Iād love the ability to gift stock. To be able to go into the app, and buy a share of Tesla, and send it to an email address where they are invited to sign up to Freetrade to claim it. Especially when you can gift a stock you know the person is interested in, at a value appropriate for the occasion, something you know they are confident will accrue in valueā¦ Something with a personal touch.
Offering someone a gift is a much more genuine incentive to get them on board, rather than saying āweāll both get a random share worth between Ā£3 and Ā£80ā. I imagine that is a better fit with the āFreetrade user personaā, and of course a massively more compelling proposition for the new user.
Further, it might be nice to have the option to lock gifted shares so they arenāt just quickly cashed out. Potentially this could be developed as a way to gift shares to minors, who would have access unlocked once they reach a designated age.
Just my 2c, curious to hear what others in the community think.
One at a time now, but we have the ability to give people any amount now, and we will give people that successfully referred, multiple invites.
Weāve seen quite a few referrals from our testers, and an exceptionally high funded rate from those referred newly to Freetrade.
Thanks for the feedback, Dan! We really like the community input.
I agree that this message currently may not be the most exciting for everyone. This is the first version, and weāll expand the reward stock selection to its limits.
