Freetrade down [Resolved]

My limit order was sat as pending for about 5 mins before going through at a buy price 5% lower than my limit :sunglasses:

The stock market is on fire today haha!

Stop the count!!

Bought some shares today - limit orders went absolutely fine, small delay on market order.

I think all brokers are having a rough day.

I would suggest to display this screen for max few seconds and then just inform user that the order was queued. Sometimes we have to stare at it for a minute. I wanted to sell part of energy and transport stock which soared 20-30% and buy commodity ETFs which dropped and it took me a while!

Who said there was no demand?

Seem like things are just being a little slow, my app just updated that one of the failed orders had been successful so that’s good. Top-up is still missing though.

What message ? That they are up and running ? that they only sent a message to all people after we complained here ?

That their social media head is blaming volatility but customer service team is blaming no volatility ?

Go back to sleep

Ruby from Freetrade customer team. She said they couldn’t find any buyers for my BP, MS and BCPT orders so that’s why order got rejected

So this guy is not happy when I called him clown. I am sorry for calling you that but you need to read these messages and don’t send default replies

It took you seconds to mark my message as inappropriate but it still took you hours to reply to my in-app message. And we still have the same issue. Perhaps if you could have tried to sort my order and account instead of replying here and mis-informing us, we would haven’t that problem

With other brokers like HL and AJB, you can call their team and they will look into your account. You guys have no number for urgent calls. Your customer service team always tries to give you default answers/articles. They never look at your query in first instance but when you press them, then they look into account

This is totally ridiculous customer service. @Freetrade_Team you could have done a better job in solving the problem than flagging comments

Increased demand does not mean that you order must absolutely go trough, to be clear. Feel your pain but your comment was indeed inappropriate.

What makes you think that when you flag an issue that you are #1 in the queue? Rather than not give you a reply, I guess they are giving the default answer so that you know someone will be looking into it for you. Or would you rather no reply?

Incidentally, I flagged your comment - the name calling should be reserved for school playgrounds, not on here.

They said there wasn’t anyone willing to offer a reasonable price, that’s not quite the same as there being no buyers.

I get the frustration though, Freetrade isn’t the only one suffering today, HL are suffering as are others. A lot of it seems to depend on the volume your selling who’s buying etc. You’re complaining they never executed the order but I imagine you may be complaining if they did execute the order and you got a really bad price?

Edit: I believe I actually remember someone who did get hit by an unreasonable price not that long ago, not the best event to happen

What the customer service team said may have seemed a generic answer but it’s probably true. No one was on the other end of your trade. On days with high volatility the so called market makers are not offering enough liquidity

I don’t think I am the #1 in queue. But I should get a reasonable reply after 4 5 hours ?. Giving me a default reply is no help. The default reply is just link to other articles that has nothing to do with my question

Even if they reply after few hours, I should at least expect that they have read my question. They should not just send a message " Market is volatile and we are working" . This is not customer service.

Freetrade was supposed to be on top of its technology and customer service as this is what they are based on . We received messages every week " We are down again, sorry". The customer service team sent you default links. Is that what you signed up ?

HL and AJB has 10 times more customer than freetrade but call them anytime and a HUMAN would answer you within 5 minutes

Oh and about flagging, its fine. I said what I felt. I don’t run to dady when there is something wrong. The guy should have read before post

Come on man. I got the same stock in HL and AJB. I sold it there at same time.

We are talking about BP and MS. BP traded 181,709,005 shares today. Mine was less than 1K

Marks and spencer traded 29,208,884 shared today. Mine was less than 1K

@Mohsin You haven’t been told no-one was there to buy your shares. You’ve been told multiple times that no-one was willing to buy them at a reasonable price. This is to protect YOU, if anything you should be thanking Freetrade that you didn’t get ripped off.

Did the sales go through in the end?

It would be very Interesting to know more detail, @simonpoole perhaps it would make for a good post on dissecting how this all works on the blackened on these unpredictable days? It would be good to see some back end examples of exactly what goes on, what affects trades on days like this and how it affects the market overall.

FYI, @Mohsin how many were you selling? As the majority of BP trades with only a small number of exceptions were all quite high volume. Possible at the time of your trade there were no good prices for small volumes?

HL also do buy/sell inside their own platform if they can find a buyer before going to the market makers as I understand.

Point being there’s loads of factors, if they didn’t get a good price I don’t believe they’d lie about that.

@jspen . That’s not true mate. I got buyer for same stock on HL and AJB but not on Freetrade ? Freetrade is connected to same Stock exchange as others.

I honestly think there was a problem with Freetrade system which they are trying to hide and hence generic replies. They have done it on the day when market fell like 2% in one day. There is loads of people on twitter as well who got the same problem.

One did go through, 2 rejected like 100 times.

HLs entire front end infrastructure essentially went down today. Looks like you just got in on either side of that incident. (as did AJ Bell)

I echo that comment, I had a buy and a sell that both hung for a while before been queued. They went through fine in the end but the amount of time spent looking at the ‘Sending order’ screen seemed a bit excessive.
